Cooling Tower Motor, 3-Phase, Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled, 15, 3-3/4 HP, 1770/875 Nameplate RPM, 256T Frame, CW/CCW Rotation, 460 Voltage, 18/6 Full Load Amps, 3 Phase, 60 Hz, Base Mounting, Mounting Position Horizontal, Bearings Ball, Frame Material Cast Iron, None Thermal Protection, 1.15 Service Factor, Ambient Temperature 40 Degrees C, Shaft Dia. 1-5/8 In., Shaft Length 4-3/16 In., Length Less Shaft 21 In., Overall Length 25-3/16 In., Insulation Class F, RPM Range 1701-1800, Duty Continuous

I don't understand the horse power rating, is this a 15 hp or a 3 3/4 hp? haven't see this type rating before,

This motor is a 2 speed motor and each horsepower corresponds to its speed. At the high speed of 1770RPM the motor would have a horsepower of 15 and at the lower speed of 875RPM the motor would have a 3-3/4 Horsepower rating. Thanks for using Grainger Ask & Answer.

AC Gearmotor, Voltage 115VAC, 1 Phase, 60 Hz, Single Output Shaft, Nameplate RPM 300, Max. Torque 4.75 in.-lb., Overhung Load 33.7 lb., Input HP 1/30, Gear Ratio 6:1, Full Load Amps 0.45, Insulation Class B, TENV Enclosure, Auto Thermal Protection, All Position Mounting, Motor Type Permanent Split Capacitor, Powder Coated Finish, Die Cast Aluminum Housing, Vending Machines, Ice Dispensing, Mail Sorting, Ticket Dispensing and DVD Kiosks ETC, Includes Capacitor, Speed Control

Does the variable speed controller with this motor vary the speed all the way down to 0 RPM? If not, how low does it go?

This motor would not have variable speed all the way down to zero RPM. The manufacturer does not give a rating for the lowest available speed for this motor. As a general rule, permanent split capacitor motors can be reduced in speed by roughly 20% meaning a 300RPM motor would be able to be reduced to approximately 240RPM. This is a rough estimate and your results may vary depending on the application. Thanks for using Grainger Ask and Answer

Thermocouple Thermometer, Thermocouple Type Type K, Number of Inputs 2, Probe Connector Mini-Type, Temp. Range (F) -200 Degrees to 1999 Degrees F, Temp. Range (C) -200 Degrees to 1360 Degrees C, Accuracy +/-0.3 Percent (+2 Degrees F/+1 Degrees C), Display Backlit 3 Line LCD, Resolution 0.1 Degrees , 1 Degrees , Sampling Rate -, Battery Type (6) AAA, Auto Power Off Yes, Data Hold Yes, Memory Min/Max, Standards CE, Includes Built In Stand, (2) Probes, Protective Holster, Instructions

Does this thermocouple endure organic solvents?

like dichloromethane
According to the manufacturer these thermocouples should not be used in any type of wet environment. The fluid will wick into the insulation and compromise the accuracy of the readings. For use in fluid a stick type probe should be used and in solvent a stainless steel probe is best. Item number 19L886 would be used in applications involving solvents. Pipe Inspection Borescope, Cable Dia. 1.1 In., Monitor Size 3.5 In., Features (2) 90 degree Elbow Bends Turning Capability, Includes 72 Ft Probe,Monitor,Reel,(2) Centering Accessories, li-ion Rechargeable Battery and Charger, SD Card, Blow Mold Case and Manual

The answer from the manufacturer stated that this scope was designed for 2-6 inch pipe. Would there be any issue using this for 8-12inch piping?

This unit can be used with the wider piping however there would be a reduction in its performance. The angel of the camera lens allows you to see out to the edges of a 6 inch pipe. Using it in an 8-12 inch pipe would mean that you may miss 2-6 inches of the pipe. There may also be less light available due to the larger volume of space. Thanks for using Grainger Ask & Answer.

testing large batteries

I am a mechanic for the post office. We have tow trucks and forklifts that use 24 and 36 volt batteries respectively. We need a load tester to help us determine when a bettery is good or bad. Please advise.
Grainger does carry a handheld battery tester that will work with 12V, 24V, 36V batteries. It is our item number 12V183. It will handle auto batteries up to 650 cold cranking amps and truck batteries up to 1700 cold cranking amps. Thanks for using Grainger Ask & Answer.

do you have 5/16 offset nutdriver?

We do not offer an offset nut driver as a standalone item. We do carry a ratcheting driver kit that would perform similarly. It is item number 2MRT4. Thanks for using Grainger Ask & Answer.
