Connecting wires to wires

I am attempting to hook up a transfere switch just past my meter for a generator plug in box. My main power connects from the meter to another sub panel and it has a 125 amp breaker that connects directly to the 2 line #6 wire that runs into my house. The way I see it is I need to disconnect the house from the 125 amp and connect that breaker to a transfere switch and then run the transfers switch back to the 2 wires that were connected to the 125 amp breaker, the problem is the house wires are short and won't reach outside of their box so I need to couple them to the leads coming from the new transfers switch. Dis I make sence here? What connector would I use to connect the #6 wires together?
