HARD ONE: Need a specialty switch to activate another fixture when activated!
specific case: Garage door opener operates an integrated 100W bulb socket. I'd like to use that to operate a set of much more powerful lights. The use of a screw-in converter from socket to 2-prong outlet isn't possible due to wattage / other restrictions on the unit. I'd like it to activate a switch that operates another light.
Anything??
in the garage opener is a relay. you can use the relay contacts to run to another contactor/relay, which will engage when that opener relay engages. then you run the line side of that auxillary contactor from an alternative power source (such as another lighting circuit) then run the load side of the auxillary contactor to the lights that you want operated.
