This is fantastic paint. It may seem expensive until you've used it, then it seems a bargain. When it is cured it is an incredibly tough coating. One would have to be very determined to scratch it with a key. The chemical resistance is excellent as well. I used it on catwalks in a winery. Outdoors. Still glossy after years of weather and chemicals. It's made to go on sound rusted metal without a primer. I would wash the steel and let it sheen a bit with rust, then wash, dry, and paint. Figure on throwing away brushes and rollers after each batch. make sure it has a several hours of cure time before exposure to water or evening dew, or it will orange peel and won't finish glossy. Sand can be added for traction. Don't mix more than you can spread during recommended pot life. Will increase in viscosity while clock is ticking.
Product FeaturesEasy to use, Great value for money, High Quality, Durable/Performs well, no primer needed

what type of paint do I use on my 100 gal above ground propane tank

I know it needs to be white but does it matter if its a latex or oil base paint
I would recommend the Rustoleum 9800 series Urethane mastic. It will cover old paint well if everything is cleaned properly. In CA the tanks don't have to be white. I like the Dunes Tan if it's still available. It dries glossy, but dust and weather will take care of that. In a garden setting, you'll find that it will almost disappear. Use a 3"or 4" std diameter roller. Mix 1/2 the paint with 1/2 the activator and put it on thick. It's a catalytic curing reaction, so it will get very hard as it cures. Do a good job and you'll never have to paint it again. I'd clean with Simple Green and Scotchbrite first and let it dry well. I painted a 2000 gallon diesel tank and it's containment tub with this exact paint. When I got the tank it was painted with aluminum colored paint. After I was done it only looked about half as big as it did in silver.
